The Great Outdoors

There are things that people need... food, water, clothing, and shelter, are the first things that usually come to people's mind but for me, you can add the outdoors to that list! I decided earlier this week that I was going hiking this weekend, rain or shine. I think my dear friends realized that I was reaching that point so we all headed up to the Gwynn Falls trail. It was a blast and perfect hiking weather! Here are some pics to show what the great state of Maryland looks like plus we saw the biggest spider in the history of spiders ever. I don't think this pic really does it justice but, you can even see where the camera caught the glare of one of its eyes (ewww!).

What's Cookin'

Not so sure what IS cooking but, I can tell you what is NOT...me. I am an excellent cook. I can make just about anything and I can make it well. This is not me being prideful or boastful this, is just fact. However, lately, not only do I not cook that much anymore but when I do try to cook, it turns out awful! In the last two days I have ruined oatmeal, eggs, sloppy joes, and pudding, seriously, pudding. I like to think that this is mainly because while cooking I also try to do other things like read, get ready, or clean because I don't have a lot of time and multi-tasking seems to be the only way for me to even have a chance at really getting anything done. I can only hope that my cooking talent has not gone away but has simply decided to take a short hiatus. Come back, come back wherever you are!

Up-Date

So here is what I have been up to for the last little while. On September 4, I had the opportunity to attend my very first Orioles game. I feel just a little bit more like an official Marylander now. I went with a group of friends from school and soon after hit up a local bar where some of my peers choose to unwind in such a way that I highly doubt they remembered it Saturday morning (good thing I have pictures). On September 11, I headed up to Delaware to hang out with my "fo family" and help with Alicen and Nate's reception. Had a blast, thanks ya'll!

Seriously... seriously

So, I am on my merry way home from school (any time I am driving home from school is a merry time, stressful because I am usually in traffic but, merry all the same). I was almost home. Just 1 more mile to go, just two more red lights. As I am at waiting patiently for the red light to turn green...BAM... the car behind me decided he did not want to wait for the red light and wanted to give going through my car, a try. It didn't work out so well because I have a Japanese car...they're made well, what can I say. So I get out of my car and turn to him with my hands pointing to the red light and say "seriously, seriously!" The guy did feel really bad and got out of his car saying "I am sorry...I am so, so, so, sorry! I just wasn't paying attention." After that I did feel a little bad for him and so I went and gave him the shoulder rub of it's okay, its not really, but it will be. I think I made him feel a little bit better though. So here we go on the insurance adventure once again. Why does this all feel strangely familiar.

Finally Done!

Yes, after some serious hard work (the detail of which I will leave out of this here post) I have finished cleaning/moving-in/decorating-on a dime mind you- my little abode. Here are some pics to help you with the visualization. My room is not in them because, that I have not finished with, assuming I do anything with it all which, at the moment is looking doubtful. Everything else is going well here in the big city of Baltimore (aka- I am still alive)

Spider Kankle

People have often asked me "Why are bugs/spiders your least favorite things?" Maybe it stems from the 3rd grade bitten by a black widow experience or maybe it has to do with being raised in a house full of scorpions or living in a desert or being bitten by random things every time I go outside. Despite these many good bug fearing reasons, I continue to bite the bullet and love nature with my whole self and heart. It is my happy place and then, things like this happen. On Tuesday night after a wonderful meal at Jenny and Jared's I went for a very short (we're talking less than ten minutes here people) stroll with Bethany along the bay (they live on the water). While we were chatting about how peaceful the evening was apparently a very poisonous spider was feasting on my now kankle. This feast led to a wonderful afternoon in urgent care that ended with 4...count them..4 prescriptions (one of which has a hallucination side effect and another which is supposed to put me to sleep for hours), a permanent size marker, a follow up appointment in the next 15 hours, and an emergency room referral in case my leg tries to fall off tonight. Don't worry nature, I don't necessarily blame you so much as the crawly things that live in you. (those other marks are from the three other bites I got in those ten minutes- yes- four total bug bites in ten minutes. No worries this still is my first week of law school and this is exactly what I planned on happening. Bring it!

Texas and so forth

Still here, hanging out with my adorable niece and nephew (soon to be nephews!) The drive here was not as bad as I thought it was going to be and the fact that fireworks are not illegal in New Mexico made it a lot better, although it does not have near the selection of Wyoming. I leave to continue my cross country journey on Saturday. I am kind of excited to hit up Tennessee and I am not exactly sure why. I do plan on making a short side trip to the Smokies. Let you all know how it goes!
